Weigh lifting wrist straps, which are usually soft and flexible, provide security to the wrists to keep it from moving the wrong way during exercise. A more specific type of this is the loop weight lifting strap which provides better control and hand grip when doing weight lifts.

While weight lifting straps serve as support system to different areas of the body during exercise, there have been criticisms regarding the use of such because it is said to cause the lifter to use more weight than they actually should. Moreover, wrist straps can also pose harm on the wrist bones, so much so that weight lifting straps are now being replaced with wrist curls.

There is no harm in putting on weightlifting straps whether you are playing sports or into weight training, especially if you are a starter. It could be harmful if you don’t.
